The school aims at providing comprehensive good quality education to boys and girls of all communities through the medium of English. It also aims at attaining human excellence and perfection, not just in any field of knowledge or activity but elevating life in totality. Hence, our prime emphasis is on inculcating moral, cultural and spiritual values drawn from the best of our traditions and culture and development of character and leadership qualities. In short, to build up the students’ total personality so that they may become honest, responsible and patriotic citizens, competent to face life’s various challenges with courage and self confidence. The co-curricular activities are aimed to include music, dance, art and craft in addition to physical training and sports. A multi-purpose A.C. auditorium has been built in the school premises to facilitate various programmes and indoor games. The school has a fully functional computer laboratory and well-equipped laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Geography. The school library boasts of a sizable collection of books, magazines and periodicals and new titles are added every year. The first batch of students appeared for the ICSE Examinations in 2006 and since then all students have passed in the Examinations every year. In the year 2023 all 162 students who appeared for the ICSE Examinations passed. 59 students scored 90% and above. 65 students scored between 80% and 89%. The highest percentage of marks was 98.80% in Science and 96.80% Commerce. In the year 2023 all the 121 students who appeared for the ISC Examinations in 3 streams passed. 33 students scored 90% & above and 47 students scored between 80% & 89%. In Science the highest marks were 95.80%. In Commerce the highest marks were 97% and in Humanities 94.80%. The students of the school participate regularly in Scouts and Guides activities and inter-school events of sports and games. The students of the school also participate in different competitive / achievements tests for Scholarship. It is to be noted that the school has already made its significant presence in the educational field of Kolkata. It gives us great pleasure to say that the prestigious International Dimension in Schools Award for the year 2022-2025 was awarded to us in March, 2022. Purwanchal Vidyamandir has won the British Council Connecting Classrooms Project Award IDS for three consecutive periods 2015-2018, 2018-2021 and 2022-2025.

The Curriculum is designed as per the guidelines of the council for Indian School Certificate Examinations and is activity based and learner centric at each level.
