The Scouts and Guides of Purwanchal Vidyamandir marched on a mission of compassion and empathy which aided in their character building and a novel perception towards the differently abled children. On 21st September 2023, the International Day of Peace was celebrated at Alokendu Bodh Niketan, an institute for children with special needs. The team carried gift hampers and a bunch of prezzies for students of Alokendu Bodh Niketan. The program proceeded with a prayer song, sharing of message and action songs by the Scouts and Guides team of Purwanchal Vidyamandir. The unalloyed, pristine faces, peals of laughter, the loud applauds of the ‘Children of God’, and the sunny smiles on the faces of the educators, guides, and coordinators of Alokendu Bodh Niketan enhanced the dazzle of the event. The children learned about the values of solicitude and benevolence. The team consisted of 9 Cubs, 4 Bulbuls, 39 Guides, and 74 Scouts and each had their contribution. The children of Purwanchal Vidyamandir can now definitely say that disability is a matter of perception and there is nothing happier to see than smiles. The Principal, Ms. Rani Jessica Gomes quoted that the message for the day was ‘Love makes our friends a little dearer, Joy makes our hearts a little lighter, Faith makes our paths a little clearer, Hope makes our lives a little brighter, Peace brings us all a little nearer.’
On 21st June 2023, International Yoga Day was celebrated by the students and teachers at Purwanchal Vidyamandir with great enthusiasm. Children observed and then displayed basic techniques of Yoga for Health, Yoga for Success, Yoga for Wellbeing, Yoga for peace and Yoga for Joy! Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. We at Purwanchal Vidyamandir believe that as Indians, we should be proud of our rich cultural heritage. The growing pressure in day-to-day life, peer pressure and meeting people’s expectations is very stressful for the students. Inculcating the habit of practicing yoga will have a positive effect on their physical and mental well-being. It will also aid in their creativity as yoga embodies the unity of mind and body, thought and action. Let us all make Yoga ‘A Way of Life!
